The Lady Ranger softball team was on the road to face Southern Nazarene University in a four-game series. The Lady Rangers were set to play double-headers on Sunday and Monday, however game two on Sunday was suspended until Monday due to darkness. Overall, the Lady Rangers fell 3-1 in the series.
On Sunday, in game one, the battle lasted an entire 14 innings before SNU scored in the bottom of the 14th to take the victory, 1-0.
Pitcher Madison Garza competed all night, throwing a total 190 pitches to complete the game.She gave up one run on nine hits while striking out 16.
The Lady Rangers recorded seven hits, but could not get any runners across home plate. Peyton Garrett went 2-for-5 and Morgan Kirk went 2-for-6.
In game two of the afternoon, the Lady Rangers were able to get going early offensively. Within the first five innings, the Lady Rangers recorded 8 hits and platted four runs.
SNU fought back in the bottom of the fifth to even the score to four all, and that ended the game due to the darkness rule.
The game resumed play from where it left off on Monday, when the Lady Rangers took the 8-5 victory.
The Lady Rangers scored four more runs in the top of the sixth on a wild pitch and a two-run RBI.
In game three, the Lady Rangers fell 6-3.
The Lady Rangers started out ahead, scoring first in the first inning on a wild pitch and a hit from Brittany Corrales scored one.
SNU took off in the third and sixth inning to take the lead and would never look back.
In the final game of the series, the Lady Rangers would fall 4-1.
SNU lead the entire game by scoring in the first inning and then again in the third and fourth. The Lady Rangers scored in the sixth, but could not get more than one.
The Lady Rangers take to the road again for a four-game series against Ouachita Baptist in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
