NewMovieReview

Alright you loyal fans, all 3 of you are in for a treat. We wanted to end this year right, and because we couldn’t watch the release of, “Avengers: Age of Ultron” until tonight, we chose the prequel to hype you for what is to come. Our pick this week:

“The Avengers” (2012)

Chris’ Review-

4.5 “hyped out of my mind shields” out of 5

So I have to say, it feels good reviewing the movie that is the third highest-grossing movie of all time. It makes me feel like on of the big shots. So you better be ready for this movie knowledge I’m about to drop.

The Avengers was amazing. From beginning until end, it felt like a great ride. On cinema, this is one of the biggest steps anyone has ever made. Now so many other movie companies are trying to rush to get on Marvel’s playing field. Sony tried, and failed, at creating an entire cinematic universe based on Spider-Man, FOX Studios is trying to create a universe with the Fantastic Four and X-Men, and DC is going to throw a cluster of heroes into the next Superman film just so it can get a Justice League movie out as soon as possible, and then they are going to go ahead and give us more solo films. If you ask me, or really any comic book fan, Marvel took the right path. They went slow and steady, released a bunch of solo films to create better characters, and really brought this world to life before they put them all in one movie. Masterpiece.

Speaking of the characters, each actor did a great job with their persona. Each hero was played as I imagined him or her in the comics, and that’s just the beginning. The chemistry on screen was phenomenal. It truly looked like these guys had fun doing their job. But who wouldn’t go to work with a smile on their face knowing that they get to be Captain America or Iron Man? Whether these guys were fighting each other, or having heart to heart moments, the audience was always immersed in it. There was so much going on, and usually that’s not a good thing, but these actors really made you stay interested in every detail.

The only thing that I can complain about is that we’ve already seen this villain. The only difference is that he has a new weapon. This is really only a minor flaw to me because Tom Hemmington does such a great job as Loki. I didn’t even mind seeing him for a third time in Thor 2.

Really fast, I want to talk about how this movie sowed seeds to make sure that they would be successful for a very long time. First of all, Iron Man and Captain America are already having some troubles getting along. This paves the way for the much anticipated Captain America: Civil War, which debuts in 2016. Agent Collsin’s “death” created a mystery to dive into with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, currently running on ABC. And most importantly, Thanos is shown as being the mastermind behind the entire evil operations. His endgame will be revealed in Avengers: Infinity Wars Part 1 and 2, coming to a theater near you in 2018 and 2019.

Bottom line: go watch this movie. Then get up, and go buy your tickets to Age of Ultron, because you wont want to be that guy that gets there 20 minutes early and still missed 15 minutes of the movie because you were waiting in line for tickets. Take my word for it, and thank me later. We’ll see you next year guys.

Natalie’s review-

4.5 justice shields out of 5

Hold on as I apply my glasses and hike up my high-water pants, because it’s about to get real geeky in here. For those of you who haven’t become fully immersed in the world of Marvel movies as I have, you have no idea what you’re missing out on.

Perhaps the most successful movie franchise of this decade (if not ever), the Marvel films have taken over Hollywood, avenging (ha ha) movie makers for inflicting us with series such as “Twilight.” But anyway, I’m off on a tangent, as usual.

I’m not going to tell you go watch every single film of the current franchise right away (though I definitely wouldn’t discourage it.) Starting off strong with the first “Iron Man” film, much was expected from the series. I’m pleased to say none of the films have let me down since the start in 2008.

I’m not certain what more you could desire in a movie. I mean, “Avengers” has adventure, strange villains, and a shockingly attractive cast. Chris Hemsworth AND Scarlett Johanson?! You’ll be blinded by good looks and abdominal muscles.

Each actor did a phenomenal job. This is not entirely surprising considering many of the actors are previously established in Hollywood.

Bottom Line: Tonight at 10 p.m., The Rialto will be hosting an early showing of “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” so this will be a perfect opportunity for you to go watch “Avengers,” buy tickets for tonight, and hop aboard the Marvel bandwagon. It’s just one more reason for you to watch this incredible series.
