“We went looking for someone who went missing while they were looking for someone who went missing. What did you expect would happen?”

“Time Trap” is a new movie that was recently put on Netflix. The movie opens with a professor, Dr. Harper, looking for some hippies that went missing while they were cave diving looking for the Fountain of Youth back in the 70s.

Dr. Harper finds the hippies van and goes into on of the caves entrances to search around but when he doesn’t return for a few days a couple of his graduate students, their friends decide to go searching for him through the caves.

They find the van, it has a picture on the dash board of the family that went missing. On the back it says “The Harpers.” They realize that they weren’t just some random hippies they were Dr. Harper’s parents.

This wan one of the first major twists in the movie.
Upon entering a cave they talk about the atmosphere around them getting abnormally humid. They try to yell at those ahead of them but there is no response. Whey they reach the bottom the said that they could not hear them.

When they look back up they realize that the light above them looks different. It sort of flashes on the wall.

They shrugged it off because caves normally act differently than the outside world and continue their search.

The students go in deeper but hear some weird noises. When Jackie tries to climb up she gets about half way and tumbles back down to the cave floor breaking her foot. She falls on the other student, Taylor, and ends up breaking his wrist.

They realize that their ropes have been severed at the top. They can’t radio to the surface for help, so they go searching for another way out.

They find a way that can be free climbed they have Cara, the oldest who is not hurt, climb to send out an emergency SOS signal she was told to “alert the beacon, drop the rope, don’t look down.”

When she gets up she realizes that something is horribly wrong. She can not send a signal, its hard to breathe and there is no sign of life. She climbs down and they began to unravel what is happening.

The movie “Time Trap” grabs your attention and doesn’t let go. There are some interesting plot twist and some really exciting and nerve wrecking situations in the movie. That keep you wondering what will happen next.

I really like the plot of it. The storyline is pretty linear the kids are stuck and trying to get out. They do not try to divert your attention to any sub plots.

There isn’t really of love story in it at all. I think a lot of SyFy movies tend to circle around a relationship and I am not really into that.

There is a budding crush between Cara and Taylor but they put that aside to focus on what is important at the moment. Finding Dr. Harper and getting out.

It is a lower budget Syfy film but I think they use their budget perfectly. It does not look cheaply made like some movies.

I think what I liked most about it is that it keeps you guessing about what will happen next and it still surprises you when you think you have it figured out.

I give this movie four out of five stars. It ties up a few ends at the end but I just wish it gave us a little more insight into what the future holds for the characters.

I would have loved to see what the director pictured at the end and the characters developed due to everything they experienced.
