Dr. Barry Evans is a new professor in the business department at the Alva campus.

After growing up in Oklahoma City, he attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with a batchlor’s degree in geology with a minor in business. For 13 years he was an Air Force professional healthcare administrator with assignments in medical logistics and then training and education .

For 11 years he started and ran a free Christan school, along with spending 12 years in higher education in the business department of two schools. Throughout his numerous jobs over the years, he and his wife have always loved small towns, so he could tell NWOSU was a perfect place.

Q: What are your hobbies?

A: I am a woodworker. When I lived in South Texas, I would make different types of furniture out of mesquite trees. During Covid, I made a workshop in the back yard as something to do. I also enjoy doing home renovations. My wife and I also love to travel.

Q: What has been your biggest accomplishment?

A: I would say starting the Calvary Chapel Christan Academy. It is a free Christian school we started it in 2000, and it is still going strong in 2023. We have graduated a couple hundred students by now.
We taught many different languages. We had Spanish from kindergarten –12th grade. We were able to graduate students who could read and write in Spanish, with training in other languages.

Q: What are you most excited for this semester?

A: I am excited to be back in the classroom. I am excited that I have many students that are excited and eager to learn. That is what I love most about is teaching students that are excited to learn the subject.
