rentice is a senior health and sports science major with a minor in sports psychology. She is also taking the field this fall in her final season as a Lady Ranger.

Called “Voni” by most of her teammates, she was born in Riverside, California and grew up in Hemet, California.

Like most athletes, she began playing the sport she loved—soccer—at age four.

She played club until the age of 15 and played all throughout high school. Though she mainly plays offense for the Lady Rangers, she used to play all over the field.

Prentice began her collegiate career in California at San Bernardino Valley College. She played there for two years before she was recruited to NWOSU.

She traded that Wolverine jersey for a red and black Lady Ranger jersey as she continued her college soccer career in Oklahoma.

Though the change in location was different, Prentice said she was happy to be here. She said she thought the girls were super welcoming.

“I was super excited because it was something new,” Prentice said.

As she enters her final year, Prentice has some goals both on and off the field.

Soccer wise, she said she wants to make playoffs and became Great American Conference champions.

In the classroom, she said she wants to graduate with a 3.7 GPA.

She said as a team, they must trust one another and stick to the motto “team before me” and be selfless.

“I think we’re having a slow start, but we have a lot of talent and depth on the team,” Prentice said.

She said her favorite memory here was playing twister in the rain.

“Alva is great because of my team,” Prentice said.

Upon graduation, Prentice said she wants to return to California and receive her Master’s, possibly at Chapman University.

In the future, she said she wants to be a basketball wife, or any other sports wife.
