The Rangers have done it again! The women’s basketball record is now set at 6-11. The Rangers defended our home court at Percefull Fieldhouse on January 19 defeating Oklahoma Baptist University 77-73. Then they were on the road Saturday against East Central University winning 69-60.
In the game against OBU junior guard, Kalea King, lead the way concluding the night with 24 points and two steals. King, also had help from junior Kori Barrios who finished with 15 points. Barrios and King with excellent shooting around the perimeter and finishing around the rim they combined a total of 64 points in both games.
With back to back wins I got the opportunity to catch up with Barrios, she said “The team has been playing with energy and intensity. Also attacking and getting to the rim.”
With Barrios game play, she’s assisted the wins. Barrios said “I’ve been playing with a mindset that we will the game together as a hard working team.” With only a small window to prepare for each game, the Rangers have found their groove and their momentum continues.
With Arkansas Tech headed to Percefull Fieldhouse on January 26, Barrios said “To be efficient we have to continue to practice hard with 110% effort, which has been the game plan coach has for us.”
