The Rangers improved their record to 5-7 on Tuesday night at the Percefull Fieldhouse versus Oklahoma Baptist University (3-1).
Before defeating the Bison, the Lady Rangers last weekend also defeated Upper Iowa University in Rolla, Missouri (3-1). This match was after a loss to Missouri S&T (3-1). The Rangers will travel to Southern Nazarene University on Thursday for the third conference game.
Oklahoma Baptist kicked off the first set hot with a 3-0 lead over the Rangers. Then freshman Ivanny Blackwood sent a massive kill over the net (5-7). Cameron Lobb and Erika Acencio Soriano made back-to-back plays.
Lobb put the Rangers in its first lead of the by placing the ball in the Bison’s gap and made the scoreboard 11-10. Lobb and Soriano again made back-to-back plays. The set ended with a block by Carmae Jones and Blackwood (25-19).
The second set started with a Ranger score from a block. The Bison scored and Blackwood put two more points on the board with kills (4-1). The Lady Bison took the team’s first timeout of the set after the Rangers advance the score 10-4.
Assisted by Brianda Diaz, Ece Ozdemir scored again for the Rangers and pushed the Bison into their last timeout of the set (18-12). Blackwood had a massive kill that put everyone in the stands on their feet. Mariela Jiminez ended the second game by blocking for the Rangers (25-22).
The Lady Bison were the first on the scoreboard for set three. Scores by Jiminez and Soriano made this set close. After many point-to-point combats and rallies, the Bison and Rangers found themselves in a close set. Three consecutive Bison points forced the Lady Ranger into a late-set timeout. A Bison kill finalized the score 23-25.
The final set was the quickest of the four. Every Bison point was met by a kill. The match was finalized when the Lady Bison served into the net. Leaving this set 25-15 and the match 3-1 for another Ranger win.
