The Rangers lady soccer team battled it out into overtime with the Tigers, but fell just short.

NWOSU soccer continued conference play last Saturday morning at East Central University.

The Rangers looked to use the momentum from the big game against Southwestern, as they came out with a fast attack opening the game for shots right out the gate. But, the Tigers shut those down to setup their own offensive game to take shots, and they grabbed the first goal in the first half at the 8:11 minute mark.

Rangers and Tigers would each get a few possessions going back and forth with the shots attacking the goal offensively.

After a few missed shots, Carlie Massingale earned a penalty kick at the 33:15 mark; the freshman midfielder would emphasize on the penalty kick and make the game tied at 1.

The game stayed tied at 1 going into halftime.

Rangers would start the second half aggressively attacking the goal taking the first 6 of 7 shots to start the half.

Other than the first 6 to 7 shots the teams traded possessions, and neither one got a good look to score and take the lead of the game.

The overtime periods were back and forth, until East Central grabbed the game winning goal in the 106th minute of the game.

Northwestern Oklahoma State University soccer will be back competing on Thursday for the Rangers first home conference game against Ouachita Baptist.

Northwestern’s record is sitting at 3-4-1 (0-1-1) while Ouachita is currently 3-4 (1-1).
