The Rangers women’s soccer team fell Monday 3-0 to the Lions in the home opener.

The women came out battling hard to start the game. The fight they brought to score on the Texas A&M Commerce’s defense brought energy to the game. Shot after shot, the fight continued as the score remained 0-0 in the beginning of the first half. After a few blocked goals, the Lions defense eventually got two goals toward the middle of the first half.

Their defense improved after the two unanswered goals slipped through their hands. The solid defense held off the Lions scoring for the remainder of the half, leaving the score at 2-0 with the Rangers trailing.

The Rangers came out of halftime with some roster adjustments, but that did not change the intensity and energy of the game. They continued to attack the Lions defense and took multiple shots at the goal.

As Pricilla Villalobos, forward, was running down the field, she got the ball and managed to make a goal that was called back for off sides, leaving the score at 2-0. Despite the offside call, the Rangers continued to compete at a high level.

Toward the end of the second half, the Lions squeezed in another goal, which made the score 3-0 with the Rangers behind. The lady Rangers look to make a win at their next game on Sept. 13 here in Alva against Oklahoma Panhandle State University.
