The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Lady Rangers Softball team fell Friday afternoon in game one and game two to the Golden Suns of Arkansas Tech University, who are currently ranked second in the Great American Conference.
Northwestern earned fourteen hits on the day and five players earned more than one hit between both games.
Alexus Bailey, the junior from Oklahoma City, continued her streak in the batter’s box going 3-for-7 on Friday with one homerun, two RBIs and one run.
Kalie Johnson, Madison Friest, Jada Overby and Alexa Moses all earned two hits each. Johnson went 2-for-6 with a homerun and had two RBIs.
Arkansas Tech took both games with the final score being 14-3, and 13-4.
On Saturday morning, the Lady Rangers competed in their last two games of the Arkansas Tech series, the Golden Suns pitching only allowed six hits on the day and Northwestern clawed to try to get in the rhythm of the game.
Madison Friest went 3-for-4 on the day and went 2-for-2 in the first game.
Ashlie Green, Alexa Moses and Jada Overby were the only others on the team to earn a hit all of them having one each. Abby Detar earned the only RBI of the day for Northwestern Softball.
The Lady Rangers fell in both games to Arkansas Tech the final scores were 17-1, and 8-0.
The Lady Rangers were in mid-week action on April 9 against their rivals Southwstern Oklahoma State University.
The Lady Rangers dropped the double-header with scores of 14-1 and 7-6 respectively.
In game one, the SWOSU offense was on fire as they tacked on 14 total runs throughout the game.
The lone run for the Lady Rangers crossed the plate in the second inning when Lindsey McElroy doubled to left field to score Morgan Kirk.
In the second game of the double-header, the Lady Rangers dropped a close one 7-6.
The Lady Rangers had the 6-4 lead in the top of the seventh, but SWOSU put the game away when they scored three in the bottom of the inning to take the win.
