The Northwestern band is shown in this 2020 file photo. The band will perform Thursday in Herod Hall.

All Rangers are invited to come out and support the concert band for their spring performance of the year, band members say.

The spring concert for the Northwestern band will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday in Herod Hall Auditorium.

Admission is free, and it is open to the public.

Band director Dr. Michael Black and his students rehearsed three times weekly to prepare.

Band members have also been rehearsing on their own to make sure they know the music to the best of their ability, they say.

“I am looking forward to performing with the rest of the band,” said Hannah Appleton, a Ranger band member. “We have been working hard to bring our audience several pieces of music.”

Appleton is a freshman this year but has been involved in band since fifth grade.

The band faced a lot of challenges performing last year because of the coronavirus.

This year, the band is able to do more and look forward to performing in-person.

The spring band concert will feature the symphony band and the jazz ensemble.

The band will continue to practice for their final performance in April before the semester is over.
