WALKINGDEADOsamu’s take: In order to officially put a period to one of the greatest nights of the year, Halloween, let us review and discuss a today’s best hit TV show, the Walking Dead (Woo-hoo!).

The story line of the Walking Dead is about characters believing in a slight hope to gain peace and survive in a zombie apocalypse. Being a zombie TV show, the show contains a few blood-spattering, intestine-hanging-out and decapitation scenes. Although aggressiveness and violence are the major components, the humor in some conversations among survivors can cause the audience to laugh.

Throughout the season, the main characters encounter other groups of survivors and some of those are evil enough to attempt to seize their shelter, supply, and even lives. Some survivors have decided to turn into cannibals, which is quite gross! In the latest season, there is a person whose leg has been barbequed by those starving folks.

As a huge fan of zombie movies and games, I really enjoy watching this show. I especially love the way the zombies look and move. I have to admit that the make-up artists do an amazing job. These rotten skins of zombies are definitely something that I do not wish to see as I attempt to eat a baked chicken leg. The way zombies move is another reason that I like this show. Instead of running zombies like the style in the movie “28 Weeks Later,” zombies from “The Walking Dead” stumble, upper limbs dangling and powerless just like me walking into a class to take a test.

Therefore, I would rate this show with 5 zombies out of 5 zombies.

The show deserves 5 zombies for containing awesome fighting scenes, quality make-up and a sense of humor.

Nick’s take: This past October, AMC channels’ biggest series to ever hit the screen returned for a highly anticipated season five. The series premiere of “The Walking Dead” brought in an estimated 17.3 million viewers on their first episode of the season, “No Sanctuary”. The feat set a new all-time high on viewers. My pal Osamu and I were right there watching along.

As I sat in my dorm room, glued to my TV, eating my pizza and completely in awe of the episode, I began to think. I thought to myself, what about this show makes it so popular?

The obvious things that would make it so popular would is what my pal Osamu told you about, which is the large amount of conflict. Each episode is jam-packed with  blood, gore, shooting and killing. Yeah that’s pretty sweet and brings in the viewers, but that wasn’t the thing that got me hooked since I began watching.

The idea of the zombie apocalypse and the insane amount of slaughtering of the zombies is also another key factor in its popularity among viewers, but still it wasn’t what got me hooked. Instead it was the way the entire show was put together and all the factors that are behind the obvious factors that I just mentioned. The multiple storylines from character to character and the use of numerous flashing arrows are what grab my attention each and every Sunday night. Another factor that grabs my attention is the use of cliffhangers at the end of each episode.

Now honestly, I am not a big fan of the cliffhangers, because I am the kind of person that believes that a TV show should flow right along without a big delay. But each Sunday I find myself in the same situation. I am drawn in completely and then boom, that’s the end of the episode. It is rather frustrating.

I also find the plot twists really awesome too. Each episode, I think, “Oh this is about to happen,” but like a character in this last Sunday’s episode said “ I’m not a scientist” and I am proven wrong each episode I think that to myself.

So based on the mix of great use of multiple storylines, plot twist and flashing arrows, I will give “The Walking Dead” a 4 Walkers out of 5 rating.

The use of the irritating cliffhangers at the end of each episode is what keeps me from giving it 5 out of 5.
