#8056 Radio CityThe Northwestern Oklahoma State University Choir will take a five-day tour of New York City during Spring Break.

The Northwestern University Singers will perform at New York’s very own Carnegie Hall over Spring break. Assistant Professor of Music, Irene Messoloras says, “Carnegie Hall is the best venue in the country. The hall is known for its history, acoustics and housing some of the greatest artists in the world. The opportunity to perform at Carnegie will provide the students initiative to present their musical art at the highest possible level.”

Carnegie Hall is not the only place the University Singers will be performing during the tour. According to Messoloras, “The Singers will be performing at The Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine, The Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall and a third venue that is to be announced.”

When the University Singers are not performing they will be able to have a well- deserved break to visit iconic places in New York such as The Metropolitan Opera House and will even be treated to a live Broadway show.

Messoloras says, “I am very excited to go with the students and share with them the sights of a beautiful city and the experiences they will take away from it. The group going has been recognized nationally and internationally. I know my singers are ready to be ambassadors for the University.”

Twenty-one students will participate in the performing arts tour, and over 75 percent of the group is made up of upperclassmen. The University Singers will be performing a wide variety of musical selections from the Renaissance to the present day. Messoloras adds, “Our goal is to present an exquisite concert at three absolutely beautiful locations.”
