The Department of Social Sciences and the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Institute for Citizenship Studies will be holding an insightful event on Tuesday.

The 2016 installment of the annual Presidential Lecture Series will focus on James Knox Polk, America’s most important unknown president.

The program’s feature speaker is Dr. Michael Cohen, Associate Research Professor of History at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

Dr. Cohen is a published author and an accomplished scholar.

He will discuss the life of Polk, as well as career opportunities in the field of public history.

This event has been held every year since 2009.

It is free to the public and all are encouraged to attend.

The event is at 7 p.m. in the Education Center (EC 109).
