Northwestern Oklahoma State University volleyball had their fourth conference game tonight against Southeastern Oklahoma State.


The team earned their third conference victory Friday night in Durant, Okla.


The Rangers took the first two sets, dropped the third, and then finished the Storm in the fourth to take the match [28-26, 25-21, 25-27, 25-14].


Improving to 12-6, and 3-1 in the Great American Conference, while SOSU drops to 1-13 and 0-5 in the GAC.


The Black-and-Red earned an overall hit percentage of .234 while they also out-blocked the Storm 11-3.


Kaydee Honeycutt led the team in kills with 14 while Kiauna Clark finished with 12. Kaitlyn Robinson led the team in hitting percentage with .429 along with assists totaling 38.


Northwestern had a battle in their first set. After falling behind mid set NWOSU used two timely timeouts to rally back.


The went on a 7-2 run off the first one to climb back in the set. Then after trailing 23-20, they used a 3-0 run out of their next timeout to even the score 23-23.


After trading points back and forth for a little while, Honeycutt ended the first set with a kill of her own to win 28-26.


The second set NWOSU clearly made adjustments after a hitting percentage of .125 in the first set the Rangers hit .368 in the second set. After trailing early on 2-1 the Rangers would take the lead off a 4-0 run and never look back.


Northwestern would never trail again in the second set winning 25-21. Kate Deterding would kill off the second set with a kill of her own off an assist from Robinson.


The Rangers came out hot in the third set with a 4-1 lead. After that the teams would trade small runs.


The Savage Storm went up 24-22 as NWOSU would use a timeout. After the timeout Northwestern would even the score 24-24.


Teams would battle again until the Savage Storm would close the set out 27-25.


The Red-and-black would not waste any time after a quick tie 1-1,
NWOSU would go on an 11-0 run led by Sydnee Miller’s serve to take a 12-1 lead. The Rangers would never look back as they dominated all set winning 25-14.


Northwestern would have the better hitting percentage .207 to -.056. The match would end on a kill from Honeycutt.


The Rangers will continue conference play on Tuesday, October 8th at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford Okla.
