Women’s Basketball came up short after two hard fought battles against Southeastern Oklahoma State on Thursday (76-67) and Southern Nazarene University on Saturday (106-95).
Going into the game Friday our Lady Rangers had a chip on their shoulder from their previous encounter with the Savage Storm mid-January and came out hot firing from all cylinders, leading at halftime by 12 points.
Kalea King finished with a double-double, 16 points and 11 rebounds. King also had some help from Jonae Isaac who finished with 15 points and 2-2 from three. Even with the stellar performance individually from duo, The Rangers couldn’t hold the lead for long after the halftime break.
The nail biting moment in the third quarter with the score at 53-52 Rangers ahead. The Savage Storm came out shooting the ball proficiently eventually pulling forward and stretching the lead, finishing the game on a 17-2 run.
The Rangers record is now set at 7-16 after Saturday’s match-up against Southern Nazarene. The game started off rough for the Rangers and eventually turned out to be a very high scoring game.
The Crimson Storm came out hot making an 11-0 run at the start of the contest. Right before the halftime break the Ranger’s McKenzie Billy knocked down a long range three, assisting Northwestern on their 17-3 run bringing them into arms reach of the Storm.
Two of our Rangers King and Isaac lead the way once again, combining for an impressive 47 points. With four Rangers in double figures and making all the necessary strides for success, it just wasn’t enough to get over the hump and take the lead down the stretch.
Monday night the Lady Rangers traveled to Weatherford to take on their rivals, Southwestern Oklahoma State University. The Lady Rangers were defeated 80-65.
Next the Rangers will play against the Tigers of East Central University at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday in the Percefull Fieldhouse.
