Tomorrow is World Kindness Day, a day that encourages individuals to overlook any boundaries of race and religion.

This day really intrigued me, as kindness is something that has always been taught at my house. I think this day is cool because people recognized that kindness was something that we were lacking, so they made a day that would remind people that we are no better than any other person.

I really encourage others to show acts of kindness on this day, to show acts of kindness to others that you usually might not. It doesn’t have to be people that you usually wouldn’t help, it can be anybody.

This is a time to step up and be the person that maybe you have wanted to be, but you were afraid of being called “that goody two shoes.” This day is a time for us to go above and beyond to make sure that others know that people are good and people do care.

There are many things that can be considered acts of kindness. Some examples are opening a door for someone, helping someone find a location, donating to a charity, giving your time to a volunteer group, be respectful to a teacher, give your full attention to someone that is trying to inform or teach you.

I guess you could take the saying, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” into an even bigger context. You could go out of your way to help somebody, because secretly you have always wanted someone to be nice to you.

I wanted to see what people thought of this day. When asking adults, they were excited for this day. Most older people feel that the younger generations have lost their kindness, that they have not been taught correct behavior. Younger people are also excited for this day, because they want to take initiative on this day.

I think that everyone should try to partake during this day. I hope that after World Kindness Day, everybody sticks to the actions of that day!
