The whole world is uncertain during this pandemic of the corona virus.
Thousands of deaths are reported each day. Cases of the virus fill social media feeds, which leaves us with questions on what to do next. People have quarantined themselves in their houses for the time being. This virus has changed the way of life.
But not for Shehab Lotfy. He has remained optimistic throughout this troubled time. Lotfy is a student majoring in history at Northwestern and is persistent while maintaining a simple routine of going to classes and hanging with friends.
He keeps a contagious smile on his face at all times. Lotfy is 6 foot even, and has a pair of black prescription glasses resting on his face. He is down to earth and will ease the tension if necessary with a well-timed joke. He has not let this virus change his lifestyle.
Lotfy spends most of his time playing basketball and talking to others on campus. He has stayed in the dorm since the outbreak occurred.
The recent changes that Northwestern has experienced have only been a minor setback for him. He continues to smile and stay active to keep his body in shape. He also leaves enough time throughout the day to complete his schoolwork.
He is aware of the situation going on around him as he scrolls through social media. Lotfy sympathizes, but with God willing, he said, “we can get through this.”
He has experienced panic attacks from time to time over the years during severe situations, but does not think about the past much.
Lotfy used to take things for granted, but now makes the most of each day he is given by helping others with schoolwork or talking to them when they need company.
